Finishing Touches for Cabinets

Remodeling a kitchen or bath and installing new cabinets is not only a great investment but a fun project that gives a great new feeling to your home. Once the type of cabinetry material and coverings are selected the next step is to think about the hardware and any potential finishing touches to add to the cabinets. Here is a list of some of the more common add-ons for cabinets.

  • Hardware - Handles, bars, and knobs add a great accent look to any type of cabinet. Purchase a few samples from your local hardware store and see how each of them look when holding them up to the cabinets.
  • Mouldings - Also often referred to as trim work, these run along the perimeter of the cabinets to enhance the overall look.
  • Pull-out Shelves - These have become very popular recently to make it much easier to access items and also offer self-closing options as well.
  • Lazy Susans - A great addition to corner cabinets that allow the shelves to spin in a circle making it very easy to access any item in the cabinet.

Less common finishing touches include feet, fillers, corbels, and onlays. All of these ideas could change the entire way your cabinets look and feel with the proper installation and layout.
